Frigolet and Montagnette Hill
Located at the heart of the Provence region, Montagnette Hill, or La Montagnette, has been inhabited by mankind ever since prehistoric times, and traces of this early life can still be found today. This little mountain range of limestone rock rises gently over a vast plain, fertile but at that time still rather marshy, as well as capricious and often dangerous rivers. The Montagnette offered easy access to these natural resources but also safe and wholesome refuge.
As its name suggests, the Montagnette is a small mountain, measuring only about 6 by 8 kilometers of rocky cliffs, slopes covered in the fragrant herbs of Provence and hidden valleys with olive, almond and abricot trees.
