Centre for the Study of Religion in Southern France (C.E.H.R.M.)

The Centre for the Study of Religion in Southern France ("Centre d'étude et d'histoire religieuse méridionale" or "C.E.H.R.M.") is a non-profit association that brings together academic and amateur historians. This innovative mix of backgrounds has led to a rich, rigorous and high-quality exchange of research and ideas.

The Centre's mission is to:

  • contribute to the knowlegde and study of the history of religion in Southern France,
  • encourage and accompany research and to support the publication of the findings by means of conferences, journals and papers,
  • facilitate contact and exchange between individuals and public and private organizations,
  • help researchers and students.


The association is comprised of:

  • founding members,
  • regular members,
  • the two groups as referred to as active members, or "membres actifs".
  • honourable members, or "membres d'honneur",
  • long-distance memebers, or "membres correspondants".
